Imperial Viennese Commode

Imperial Viennese Retour d’Égypte commode, made of mahogany, ebony and gilded bronzes. The fine carved giltwood and partly bronzed caryatids are shown in the form of Egyptian temple servants, carrying papyrus rolls. Viennese court workshops, around 1810. The commode, with its characteristic appearance, pays reference to the famous Egyptian cabinet at the royal palace of Vienna. This room, with its opulent wooden wall panels and furniture, was installed in 1810 for Empress Maria Ludovica (1787-1816) and it is currently preserved at the Möbelmuseum Wien. H: 92 cm, L: 127 cm, D: 62 cm.
