Restored piece

Italian Empire Guéridon

Unique Italian Empire Guéridon, made of mahogany and carved and gilded wood with a top of Carrara marble. Its very unusual form is based on an ancient Roman marble tripod of the collection of the Musei Capitolini. Famous artists like Giovanni Battista Piranesi or the Spanish architect of the 18th century Lois Monteagudo did drawings which served as the basis for the design of this piece. Inside, the piece preserves the original metal basin, which made the table also useable as a Jardinière. The base holds the original iron wheels. Tuscany, around 1820 H: 85 cm, D: 78 cm.
